The Big Apple Classic at Madison Square Garden was a couple of weekends ago, and it turned out to be a relative success. Virginia Union edged Virginia State in overtime, and Howard beat Hampton by two points. Black college basketball as its finest, right?
Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell these legendary CIAA basketball players about the excitement, as they look like the PA just announced that the NCAA would be rescinding 100 of Clarence ‘Big House’ Gaines career wins.
And that could be from a lot of things. Maybe they were tired of hearing ‘Empire State of Mind’ throughout the weekend.
Or maybe they were dismayed that just under 5900 people showed up for a black college basketball classic in NYC. But hey, who’s thinking about the stats; let’s hear it for New York, New York, NEW YORK!
