A loss to a Division II team, an inability to score, and an embarrassing showing in the Florida Classic was just too much for Wildcat admin and faithful to stomach. Alvin Wyatt, the innovator of the Wyattbone offense and contemporary architect of Bethune-Cookman football, has been fired.

The Shine Ultimatum - Alvin Wyatt's Job in Jeopardy?
JC

Bethune-Cookman finally got its first win of the season yesterday – a 9-6 road squeaker over Delaware State University.
And it might have been just in time for Wildcat head coach Alvin Wyatt Sr. According to multiple sources within and around the Wildcat program, athletic officials have placed a three-game window on success for Wyatt and the Wildcats to win – or Wyatt will be fired.
The first game against lowly Delaware State is in the win column. The final two games that will determine Coach Shine’s career fate? On the road at Savannah State and homecoming against Winston-Salem State University.
You would’ve assumed the Wildcats would be one of the second-tier teams in the MEAC trying to catch South Carolina State and Florida A&M. Instead, Wyatt and the Wildcats dropped their first four games; including a blowout home loss to Shaw University.
One down, two games to go to determine the future of the Disco Inferno.
*UPDATE* – The disco music has stopped in Daytona. Alvin Wyatt has been fired.

Could Bethune-Cookman Bust Up the MEAC Party?
JC

The consensus among most black college football enthusiasts, myself included, is that Florida A&M is going to run away with the MEAC football championship. Too many weapons, too many seniors, perfect timing.
But Bethune-Cookman may have other plans, particularly since their last memory of regular season competition was a 58-35 drubbing at the hands of that same conference favorite in the 2008 Florida Classic.
The pieces that matter to their rush-heavy offense all return, and the defense that allowed the second-fewest points in the MEAC last season returns senior leadership on the defensive line, and in the secondary with lineman Dexter Jackson and cornerbacks Antonio and Antwuan Cox.
