It isn’t a story that has made the rounds in black college sports, and why should it? The SWAC cares not for basketball, after all. But it is a pretty big deal that Southern dismissed its leading scorer Earnest Jones earlier this week, and coach Rob Spivery is mum on the reasoning.
Spivery said he dismissed Earnest Jones, the team’s leading scorer, after the team’s loss at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday night.
Spivery said he sent Jones home Sunday, citing “behavior that was not …”
He took a long pause.
“Not acceptable. That’s as good a word as any,” Spivery said, declining to elaborate.
