2009 Black College Basketball Attendance Numbers
JC
Forgive the late nature of today’s post, as the Carter Media Enterprises blog network was experiencing some major downtime on the server. Again. Anybody out there that is knowledgeable about web hosting plans, definitely hit me up. I’m looking to make a change.
Anyway, the CIAA announced today that the conference was third overall in the nation among attendance at men’s basketball games in Division II. Right under the CIAA is the SIAC, which are incredible standings considering the size of gyms and student enrollments at many D-II HBCUs.
But have you ever wondered how the four black college conferences stack up against each other in basketball attendance? The numbers may surprise you.

MEAC Blows 2009 Baseball Tournament Honors
JC
We all know that Bethune-Cookman is the standard of excellence in black college baseball. They’ve had the best 10-year run of championship success of any Division I program in the country, culminating in their fourth-straight MEAC title victory last week.
The Wildcats not only won the championship, but they completely blew away the field in their run to the crown. So the assumption is that the all-tournament team and MOP accolades would be Wildcat all over, right?

Could Forfeiture Cut Into Delaware State's $550,000 Payday?
JC
We now know just how much it takes for Delaware State University to take a conference loss:$550,000 large. But a new question has emerged on this hot button issue of the Hornets forfeiting a conference game against North Carolina A&T in mid-October. How much of that payday is going to the MEAC for penalty fees?
MEAC commissioner Dennis Thomas said last week the league is reviewing DSU’s forfeit to North Carolina A&T after an alternate date could not be found. DSU and A&T were to play Oct. 17, but that is when Delaware State agreed to play at Michigan.Candy Young-Sanders, the DSU assistant athletic director who was involved in the decision, has acknowledged the forfeit could affect the conference race. She also said the school expects a monetary penalty from the MEAC.
