In true HBCU form, Hampton made a place for LaMarcus Coker, a former running back for the Tennessee Volunteers who was dismissed from the team for four failed drug tests.

Now, he eyes a chance at being drafted into the NFL.

It always amazes me that blue chip high school athletes don’t discover black colleges until they’ve smoked, drank, partied, flunked or cursed their way out of power conference schools. I admire Coker for being able to make the most of a do-over at Hampton, but I wish that he, or any other athlete that has ever transferred out of a BCS program, would have the heart to say “I wish I would’ve picked Hampton from the start.”
