Maybe the Florida A&M University volleyball team will get one of those ‘top ten’ slots on SportsCenter this week, because you’d be hard pressed to find a team in any sport that can claim nine straight conference championships.

To put it in perspective, the Lady Rattlers have posted at least 20 wins in seven out of their nine championship winning seasons. In 2009, they were sixth in the country in aces per set, and their three players named to the all-MEAC first team? All juniors, including Player of the Year Jovana Blezeski.

This isn’t to say the Rattlers are without challengers in the conference. Delaware State and UMES certainly fielded great teams this season. But nine consecutive titles indicates a recruiting and coaching advantage of epic proportions held by the Rattlers, and there are no signs of slowing down in the near or distant future.
