A loss to a Division II team, an inability to score, and an embarrassing showing in the Florida Classic was just too much for Wildcat admin and faithful to stomach. Alvin Wyatt, the innovator of the Wyattbone offense and contemporary architect of Bethune-Cookman football, has been fired.
Give Wyatt credit, though. He clawed his way back from the horrendous start to the season to finish a respectable 5-6 and fifth in the MEAC. Just one season removed from an 8-3 campaign, his firing was demanded by the same fans who boasted that the Wildcats would challenge FAMU and South Carolina State for the MEAC title this season.
But BC insiders have disclosed to the HBCU Sports Blog that Wyatt was resistant to making changes to the offense or to his coaching staff, and with the homecoming loss to Winston-Salem State, Wyatt’s fate was all but sealed.
So who does Bethune-Cookman bring in to guide a team built to run and defend the pass? There are some names floating around, and it will be interesting to see which of the names bubbles to the surface. Don’t be surprised if you see a familiar name from the CIAA ranks emerge in the next week or so.
So, the sunshine goes down on a storied career for Alvin Wyatt. Whether you’re a football fan or a connoisseur of butterfly collars and elaborate belt buckles, this has to be a sad but expected day.

Morganite…..I think coach Blount takes this spot…..I tell you its too bad coach hills contract isnt up till next year….Because I would love to see Coach Wyatt at Morgan…He is a good coach….Can you imagine the Florida Kids he could bring to Baltimore? I know coach hill gets some but , it wouldnt compare to what Wyatt could bring. Me personally I like the option….for that simple reason its an option….Beats running draws and dives up the middle 50 times a game and getting stumped 40 out of the 50 times…..lol…..Plus it would be cool to have a coach that looks like a cross between steve harvey and richard pryor….lol….
