The SWAC  yesterday announced a new three-year agreement to move it’s men’s and women’s conference basketball tournament to Louisiana’s Bossier City/Shreveport metropolitan area beginning in 2010.

Commissioner Duer Sharp has been rolling lately with new partnerships and deals to expand the conference brand, and moving the basketball tournament to a more attractive tourist destination may serve the SWAC well in improving its woeful tournament attendance record from last season.

Even though the SWAC fan base could care less about basketball, it’s still a worthy enough social event that more people will show up to Shreveport for a little gambling, some tame nightlife, and in their spare time, to watch a basketball game or two.
