According to Kareem Copeland, the tremendous JSU beat writer for the Clarion-Ledger, Bob Braddy never considered firing Tiger offensive coordinator James Woody, and head coach Rick Comegy never recommended such.
“It’s a family issue that, you might say, we had to work out,” Braddy said. “It’s an in-house matter. It’s been resolved.”
Braddy said he met with the two coaches Friday, but wouldn’t further elaborate on the specifics surrounding the suspension.
Is this an irreparable rift for the Jackson State coaching staff? It would not seem to be so, considering the length of time that Comegy and Woody have coached together, and the amount of success they’ve had at JSU and Tuskegee. Coaches fight, but you would think that a blow-up like this would occur in the middle of a bad stretch of games rather than early summer.
But what do you call it when a long-term relationship goes bad, and one side of the relationship gets shorted on their money?
That’s right. A divorce.
