And man, are they on their side. Nationwide Insurance is now the official corporate sponsor of the CIAA, which means the insurance company will have first rights on commercials, signage, advertisements, and every other marketing piece the CIAA puts out with its sporting events.
This is a multi-year agreement that includes Nationwide serving as presenting sponsor of the CIAA Football Championship Game, sponsorship of the CIAA Men’s Tournament Most Valuable Player Trophy, and as a Corporate Sponsor of all sixteen CIAA Conference Championships.
The insurance company will also make contributions to the conference scholarship fund, and will recruit students at conference member schools for employment opportunities. Take that, State Farm.
What a power move for the CIAA. The SIAC has a number of partners, but its unclear to what level these corporations assist the conference. As for the MEAC and SWAC, a look at the home page would indicate that they are bringing up the rear when it comes to bringing in the cash.
