In case you were wondering, Alcorn State University officially fired first-year head coach Ernest Jones today for reasons many of us couldn’t even pronounce, let alone believe.

“In a statement released today, Alcorn State University (ASU) announced that head football coach Ernest Jones has been terminated on the grounds of “malfeasance and contumacious conduct.””

Okay, so we can now confirm that the Braves administration is a joke when it comes to sports. They didn’t have a good year, but the indications are that Jones never had a chance under Athletic Director Darren Hamilton, who has a history of mismanagement, scandal, and ego-driven administration at previous stops.

I’m not saying Jones was the absolutely right guy for the job, but I am saying he was in the wrong situation to try and build a successful program. His coaches got fired without his knowledge, and now he’s gone. Alcorn State blew this entire process, and the school administration is in lockstep with an AD whose most recognizable professional accomplishments involve being fired or clumsily firing someone else.

I feel for you, Braves fans. You all deserve so much better than what you have.
