The saga continues at Alcorn State University, as reports have surfaced that head coach Ernest Jones has been fired as head coach of the Braves football program.
The firing comes after Jones filed a lawsuit against the university for the firing of seven assistant coaches on Thanksgiving Day. The suit contends that the termination of the coaches impaired Jones from fulfilling his contractual obligations as a head coach at the university.
So, what we have here is going to be a really fine mess for a really long time, that is sure to generate national headlines, likely to get athletic director Darren Hamilton fired, and certain to create controversy around the university’s administration. The person who looks the best out of all of this is Jones, who despite a 2-8 record, will get plenty of face time from the media.
As usual, we’re yelling about it in the forums, and will bring you the latest as it comes out.
