Will Ford, the standout junior South Carolina State running back has been named one of ten finalists on the watch list for the Sports Network’s 2008 Walter Payton Award. Ford is second in the MEAC with 1221 rushing yards, but averages 6.1 yards per carry and is second in the conference with 11 rushing touchdowns.
The Walter Payton Award is presented to the top player in the Football Championship Subdivision, and previous winners include Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
