If you are a fan of black college football, then definitely check out the NCAA’s official blog, Double A Zone. Where mainstream media outlets have neglected black college athletics, the NCAA has reached out through mass media to tell some of the unique stories of athletic programs at historically black colleges and universities.

Their latest piece involved a trip to South Carolina, where they caught up with the homecoming activities of South Carolina State University and Claflin University.

Here’s some footage of Double-A Zone producer Howard Smith, who rode along with the Bulldog defense prior to their homecoming game against Norfolk State University. Smith had never been to a black college football game, but from his accompanying write-up reads, he seems to have discovered that football tradition and excitement are on unique display when it comes to HBCUs.

An excellent piece by the Double-A Zone crew, and I hope that it is the first of many to come.
