It’s a question for the ages. Do you go with the original in the CIAA? Is it the SIAC, with powerhouse Tuskegee University as its standard bearer?
Or is it one of the two FCS black college conferences? The SWAC, which is perhaps the most lucrative and visible black college football conference? Or the MEAC, which has significantly raised its profile with media on the east coast through classics and television deals?
Each conference has its special history, tribulations and successes. You could argue that all four have a long way to go in becoming nationally-marketable sports enterprises, but that the talent and tradition of each conference is clear.
That why it’s no good to surmise, but to leave it to the people. 30 days to decide America’s best black college football conference, with the winning conference to have its commissioner profiled here on the HBCU Sports Blog. Hopefully.

The best at what? Athletics? Academics? Mascot?

That’s up to you. Generally, the intent is to discover which conference yields the better football product, be it through historical value, or contemporary success.

In comparison to who, the SWAC? The SIAC?
I would come with some solid facts before calling a conference with some pretty good teams with solid showings out of conference, garbage.
