And I’m not just saying that because you fans voted the North Carolina A&T Aggies and Winston-Salem State Rams’ ‘Battle of I-40′ as the game of the week. The Aggies are showing that they have the talent and the coaching acumen to retake their place as a contender in the MEAC conference.

“You can write that down, we are back,” said offensive lineman Enoch Cohen of the Aggies.

Forget the fact that the Aggies never trailed the Rams, or that they held them to an average of six yards per pass completion and two yards per rush. Consider that the Aggies had to make a goal line stand to preserve victory, and they did it in four plays to earn their 14-8 win over WSSU.

Sure, they still have a long way to go. The Aggies had more penalty yards, fewer passing yards, and fewer total yards. But they didn’t turn the ball over, and forced the Rams to lose two fumbles on the game. They also outgained the vaunted Rams rushing attack, 101-80.

Effective offensive management, and an active defense are the keys a good season for any football program, and the Aggies have hopped in the driver’s seat with those keys and are rolling.

There are some who may think the Aggies’ competition, Johnson C. Smith and Winston-Salem State who are a combined 0-3, haven’t been up to the talent level of A&T.

But when you haven’t won a game in two years, every game is a hevyweight championship fight. And in the MEAC, for now, the Aggies are the undisputed champs.
