Tuskegee University is the preseason Black College Football Championship favorite, as named by the Sheridan Broadcast Network. The 2007 undefeated SIAC champions received 15 first place votes from black college football head coaches, sports information directors, and print and television media.
Virginia Union and Albany State joined Tuskegee as the sole Division II representatives on the list. Delaware State University and Jackson State University, the MEAC and SWAC 2007 conference champions, placed second and third. Shaw University, the 2007 CIAA football champions, were outpaced by Prairie View A&M for honorable mention.
